Leaf by Leaf was originally a game made for Cozy Fall Jam 2024 and Mini Jam 170: Clean. The themes were Cozy, Fall, Expansion, Clean, and Everything in pieces which is represented in our game in a number of ways. The game is an attempt at a cozy survivor-like, with a focus on clearing away leaves without the threat of losing health or being eliminated. Fall fits the art and setting of the game, including much of our color choices. Expansion represents how the player's tractor expands in functionality over the course of the game. Clean is shown by your main objective, cleaning up fallen leaves. Finally, everything in pieces is represented by the machinery pieces that you must collect in order to upgrade your tractor.

Our goal with this game was to see if we could make a "cozy" version of a typically anything-but-cozy game genre of survivor-likes. The game incorporates the typical leveling and random upgrades aspect of survivor-likes but without the danger of failure or losing health. We also went with aiming to add another degree of skill to the gameplay.

Story:

You show up with your custom-built leaf-clearing machine only to have it malfunction and send pieces flying. Now you must clear away all the leaves while also collecting pieces of your machine to slowly upgrade it back to its former glory.
